The Desire Of Asaph

Psalms 73:21: Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. 22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. 23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. 24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

The desire of Asaph was God. Has the desire of Asaph become your desire? Has your heart been broken by His absence and healed by His presence? Have you recognized how foolish and ignorant you were and still would be without Him? Do you know that you are always with Him? Do you know that you are always in His hand? Do you desire to be in His hand? Are you aware that He has held you up? Do you trust Him to receive you into glory? Is He your only and greatest desire?

Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:32: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Psalms 84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Is Jesus the most important person in our lives? Do we want Him to be and permit Him to be? Do we ask Him to be? How often do we make Him play second fiddle or take some smaller role? How often do we forget or not even know that He is our greatest and only need. In Heaven we will know these things perfectly and never forget them. Lord, please help us to desire you here and now.
